Trading Video: EURUSD Back to 1.3500, Dow Closes at a Record High
Despite a mix of data that offered a distinct favor for the sterling, GBPUSD failed to overtake 1.7200. Meanwhile, a more mixed picture for EURUSD wouldn't keep it from pulling into 1.3500. Both majors are at key technical levels that no doubt have FX traders projecting serious trend developments, but the analysis isn't adding up favorably. Scheduled event risk, underlying fundamental themes, general volatility conditions are not solidifying into the same mold that technicals alone seem to take. Volatility is Turning, Yen Crosses and Equities Ready (based on dailyfx article)
Is there a deeper well of change behind the markets than just this past week's headline-derived swell in volatility? We have seen short-lived panics quickly squashed by opportunistic traders many times over the past months and years, with conditions ultimately returning to complacency and an increasingly stretched reach for return. Yet, rather than focus on the ripple, the underlying current is starting to turn. The pull of a 'return to norm' is exposing investors' leverage to risk and finding different benchmarks for sentiment on divergent paths. What should we watch for and where are the trading opportunities? We discuss this in the weekend Trading Video.

Trading Video: Risk Trends and Rate Expectations Amid FOMC, NFPs, GDP
With the US docket alone carrying the quarterly GDP reading, nonfarm payrolls report and FOMC rate decision; it looks like we are set for a busy week. These and other major fundamental catalysts are certainly high profile and easily segue into one of the FX market's primary themes: interest rate expectations. However, a wary eye must be kept on the current for sentiment as a general trend is developing between bottoming volatility indexes, consolidating carry trades and diverging performance between risk-sensitive asset classes. As tides turn, key pairs mark progress and event risk approaches; we discuss how to prepare in the weekend Trading Video.
