can i run metatrader4 on linux operating system?
For linux you must use Wine. Check this:

sorry if the question is asked before but i asked one of the famous forex brokers (fxdd) on live chat and they said metatrader 4 is a windows based and cant run on linux

Note that Market and Signals don't work for MT4 on Linux/Wine, though these issues have been fixed in the latest release of MT5.
