If you open a subscription to a signal and there are already pre-existing trades open,
do the existing trades automatically open on your account (at the current price) or
do you have the option of not opening existing trades or
do the existing trades just not open?
thanks
If you synchronize with open orders, you will open them at the current price (at a better level than the signal).
If you want (and its advised to do so) to start fresh with no floating open orders, wait for them to close at signal's end.

Yes they do though it has its advantages and disadvantages. There's an option also to allow or not to allow existing trades to be copied

Yes, this is correct, you are asked if you want to copy already opened orders, upon synchronization.
