Best Graphic Panel in the MQL5 Language

 

Automated trading is not limited to development of Expert Advisors - trading robots that implement certain strategies. A convenient and unique intuitive interface will be handy to everyone - both professionals and newbies who study the basics of trading.

Therefore we decided to announce a Contest for the Best Graphic Control Panels in the MetaTrader 5 terminal. To attract more EA developers to the Contest, we have provided money prizes and prepared Rules. Here is the current variant of the Contest Rules for your discussion. Also you are welcome to recommend users for the public Jury.

Contest Rules for Best Graphic Panel in the MQL5 Language


I. General Provisions

  1. The Contest is organized by MetaQuotes Software Corp.
  2. The Jury will consist of 3 official representatives of MetaQuotes Software Corp. and 7 public representatives from the users registered at mql5.com.
  3. The official representatives of MetaQuotes Software Corp.:
  4. The public representatives will be appointed on the basis of discussions of the idea of the Contest on the Forum at mql5.com.
  5. Registration for the Contest is not required. To participate in the Contest a user will need to create a draft in the Code Base section and submit an application for participation in a private message to Rashid Umarov (Rosh), the Jury member.
  6. The Contest opens on the 10th of November 2010 and closes on the 9th of December 2010.
  7. The Jury shall be voting in private from December 10 to December 14, 2010.
  8. On the 15th of December 2010, after the Jury vote the programs will be published for public discussions.
  9. The total prize is $1800:
    • First place - $1000
    • Second place - $500
    • Third place - $300
  10. The results of the Contest will be announced on December 15, 2010.
  11. The prizes will be transferred to the winners' accounts through the internal payment system of the MQL5.com website.
  12. Participation in the Contest is free.

II. Objectives of the Contest

  1. The Contest is conducted with the purpose of demonstrating the possibilities of the MetaTrader 5 Client Terminal and the MQL5 programming language in the creation of convenient and intuitive graphic tools for use in traders' daily work.
  2. Contest Organizers reserve the right to use the results of the Contest for publicity purposes.
  3. The application programs sent to the Contest can be used to improve the capabilities of the MetaTrader 5 Client Terminal.

III. Participants

  1. Any person may participate in the Competition, regardless of his/her citizenship, gender and occupation.
  2. Former and current employees of the organizing company, as well as their family members and relatives, are prohibited from participating in the Contest.
  3. Each participant may present several different programs.
  4. The Participants agree not to present any financial claims, as well as any other demands, to the Organizer of the Contest.
  5. By entering the Contest, each Participant demonstrates a full agreement with the given Rules, without any exceptions or limitations.

IV. Programs for MetaTrader 5

  1. Programs are accepted in source files *.MQ5. The Participants are allowed to use the standard Windows API/DLL, but without custom DLL.
  2. It is allowed to use the following in a program:
    • One Expert Advisor (placed in directory /mql5/experts) or one script (is placed in directory /mql5/scripts);
    • 10 include files with mqh extension (placed in directory /mql5/include);
    • 10 data files (placed in directory /mql5/files) in any format except executable;
    • Up to 10 custom indicators (placed in directory /mql5/indicators), there are no limitations on the usage of built-in indicators;
    • Up to 5 libraries (placed in directory /mql5/libraries).
    • Up to 50 image files (placed in directory /mql5/Images).
  3. Each program should be sent in the form of an archive (zip or rar) containing all the necessary files in the appropriate directories. So that in order to compile and run a program, the archive should be unpacked to the MQL5 directory without the need to place the files manually.
  4. Each work is published in the Code Base with a brief description on its setup, launch and use. Screenshots are welcome, as they would help to better assess the work by the members of the MQL5-community.
  5. All programs submitted for the Contest will be published at the end of registration. The list of programs will be published on the forum of MQL5.com.
  6. The organizer reserves the right to announce additional prizes after the public discussions.

V. Guaranties of the Contest

  1. The Organizer guarantees that all programs submitted for the Contest will be available only to the Contest Organizers.
  2. The Organizers do not conduct examination of programs submitted for the Contest on the subject of copyright.

VI. Determining the Winner

  1. Upon completion of admission, all the submitted programs are sent to the public representatives of the Jury for voting.
  2. Each public member of the jury shall within 3 days select three best programs and announce their decision to the Organizers.
  3. Each member of the Jury, the official company representative or the one selected from the MQL5 community, has only one vote.
  4. If two or more winners have the same number of votes, the jury makes the final decision after re-vote on these works.
  5. The winners shall be determined within 5 days after the admission of programs is over.
  6. The programs will be published in the Code Base and the Contest results will be published on the Forum on the 15th of December 2010.
  7. If not enough programs are submitted for the Contest, the Contest will be declared invalid, and the programs can be published only with the consent of the Participant.
  8. Organizer reserves the right to award cash prizes to Participants even if the Contest is declared invalid.
  9. The Winners must agree to participate in publicity and marketing events, conducted by the Organizer, including interviews, photo-reports, and public announcements, made through mass media about the occurring events.

VII. How the award is paid

  1. The payments shall be made through the internal payment system.
  2. The prize money will be transferred to the Winners' accounts within 2 working days after the announcement of the Contest results. Taxes related to the prize shall be paid by the winners.

We have received eight applications for "The Best Graphic Panel", which is enough to hold the contest. The following participants have submitted their programs (participant - program name):

The participating graphic panels will be prepared for review and sent in one compressed file to all members of the Jury. The final decision will be made by a vote of each member of the Jury, and the results will be the announced on December 15.

After determining the winners of the contest, all the graphical panels will be published in the Code Base, and the results will be published on the forum.

We do not set any criteria for evaluating the participating programs, and each member of the Jury will choose the best programs for the top three places. The final determination of winners will be made on the basis of the Jury's evaluations. If several works will be rated for one place, additional consultations with the Jury members will be held.
