ECB interest rates unchanged

At today’s meeting the Governing Council of the ECB decided that the interest rate on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 0.75%, 1.50% and 0.00% respectively.

The President of the ECB will comment on the considerations underlying these decisions at a press conference starting at 2.30 p.m. CET today.

 

And again the "majority" of 3 decided about the rates

 

At least it keeps the interest payments down on all those Million+ Euro houses and second and third homes the powers that be own

and the banks can continue to pay nothing to the peasants in interest

does nt seem to do much else

 

Draghi straddles line on possible ECB rate cut

European Central Bank President Mario Draghi straddled the line on the potential for a future rate cut on Thursday, while insisting that markets are taking Italy’s political turmoil in stride.

The ECB chief acknowledged that policy makers discussed a rate cut, but said the “prevailing consensus” on the governing council was to leave rates unchanged.

“The recovery path is by and large unchanged and the inflation projection in line with our medium-term policy objectives,” he said.

The ECB on Thursday held its main refi rate at 0.75%, as expected.

Draghi’s never-let-them-see-you-sweat performance cheered euro bulls, who appeared to take the remarks as a sign a rate cut won’t happen unless the economic outlook takes a turn for the worse, undoing the ECB’s expectation for a recovery to begin taking hold in the second half of the year.
