I had the same problem...
You have to resize the strategy tester window
Enjoy
Ups.. sorry
Thanks, for informing us...
This new features helps a lot!
A nice tool has been developed in the latest build.
If you wanna know the way indicators work in history then do the following:
1. Create a new chart in any TF
2. Attach any EA
3.Press strategy tester
4. Mark visualization and choose a speed
5. Press Start and wait till the chart appears then press a pause button on visualization
6. Attach your indicator(s)
7. Press Continue
8. Enjoygreat tool... too bad it doesn't work with multiple time frames. It's kind of useless for me unless I can have 3 separate timeframes up..
I must be doing something wrong...
After the 196 update, I have not been able to run the strategy tester at all. I see the visualization feature, but nothing is working.
Just to note, I have downloaded the eurusd.hst file from Alpari, on Sept. 7, so have about 27 months of data for the Euro. This worked just fine on build 195 (the last one).
In the journal I am seeing this error:
2006.09.10 16:00:12 TestGenerator: error reading file for 'EURUSD60'
As well, when I start the strategy tester up, I view the chart, and it just hangs while saying "Waiting for Update"
BTW: I reloaded the M1 Alpari history data, and did another period conversion on all the timeframes from M5 to D
Any thoughts here on what to do?
Thanks,
Harvester
Just an update to my previous post
Well it looks like I was able to fix the problem, but not sure why I had to do this...
I went and deleted all the eurusd data and history files from the file system. Then reloaded the Alpari history data, and the subsequent period converter routine on all the timeframes.
Now it works???
It would appear that the build 196 did not like something about my previous load of history data, and required another import.

So you can test without any given signals from a EA
