A way to "Test" changing signals

Ola,

maybe it is a stupid way, but I will share my idea..

This is for Indicators like SHI_SilverTrendSigAlert, SilverTrend, Super-signals, etc. and you have to use Metatrader 4, build 196.

- I have created a EA that provide no any sell/buy signals.

Let the EA run and test your prefered Indicators as it is described in the .pdf file. If it run's you will see all the "flickering" signals if so.

You can also load Templates to see was will happen.

Have fun

No Posting in Almost a Month

Has this system been shown to be unprofitable? Normally when people stop posting it has been discovered that the system is producing losses more than wins.

Where are we on this one?

Simba, have you tested your "dot to dot" theory on this system?

Trades

I'm going long cable 9036 on 4H signal, "dot to dot" ala Simba, and will post results.

Dot To Dot And The Filter?

Hi Mikejody,

Please take note of my previous post comments QUOTE

"...

2-SHI SilverTrend SigAlert is an indicator that repaints itself,so,its use should be null but for the fact that IT IS USUALLY AN ACCURATE indicator,so,if you really want to use it to make money you should devise an strategy that allow for the inherent imperfection of the indicator,2 examples of what I mean:

A-filter with trend direction indicator,IN HIGHER TF like :iTrend,Adx,Supertrend,Non Lag Ma in higher TF,etc.Your Hit rate and relative pay off will improve.ENTRY/EXIT AT OPEN OF NEXT BAR.." UNQUOTE

So,take care to use a valid filtering strategy, the new xpma.v2 from codersguru, with JMA settings-in higher timeframe- looks promising.

By the way "A LA SIMBA" DOT TO DOT COMMENTS were not posted for trading, but just for pointing out the obvious, that dot to dot is a better strategy than dot to arrow>>>BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT IS NECESSARILY A GOOD STRATEGY-dot to arrow can be a disaster and dot to dot simply very bad.

In addition, you have non repainting entry/exit indicators that work fairly well, with a trend filter. The one I chose is BRAINTREND,but you can choose betwen several good ones like ASC and LABTREND...

I do not use BRAINTREND for actual entries /exits,but I try to avoid going against it because of its efficiency..

I have attached the2 Braintrend indicators I currently monitor(there are several..do a search in this forum, there is even a MTF one,and a good explanation of its use) and the LABTREND one.

If you decide to use them, use them with a trend filter, your hit rate will improve....take a look at the attached pictures,BRAINTREND 2 indicators with xpma(JMA settings) and an MTF version of xpma(on 240 TF),and you willsee what I mean .

Best Regards.

Hi Simba,

Thank you for your helpful and insightful comments here, they make a lot of sense. Also thank you for the indicators, too.

Can you tell us if the braintrend or labtrend indicators repaint themselves, like the Shi ones do?

Thank you again.

Hi Mikejody,,

Braintrend FOR SURE DOES NOT REPAINT,once the bar is closed "red is and will be red and the same for blue",BOTH DOTS AND BARS.

Labtrend I AM 99%DOES NOT REPAINT,I just checked on 1 min bars and it id not repaint,it looks interesting using settings for 1HTF, 1,1440,1,1,0.

See attached picture for GBPUSD 1HTF a few minutes ago.

Best Regards.

Simba, what exact indicators do you have on the attached chart?

Hi Mikejody,

LABTREND with the previously posted settings and an MTF indicator created on my own digital filters(special SATL) that I converted into an MTF colored indicator using both info I got from MTF THREAD(Thanks Keris)and on codersguru xpmaV2(Thanks Codersguru). For the moment you can use codersguru xpmaV2 with the JMA settings(36 days) on 1D TFto achieve a similar result.I have several problems-I am not a programmer,I just have a knack for trial and error- with my MTF indicator, does not paint yellow+seems that sometimes it repaints the last previously closed bar+can not change the settings..etc.

If I see that it has promise I will ask Codersguru to recode,or code it right ,

for everybody to use.

Best Regards.

Simba, you are the trading king! Your chart here looks like the Holy Grail. Of course I know its not, but it sure does look good.

Unfortunately I have worked and worked with the indicators and cannot even approximate the chart that you have posted. Any chance we can solicit CodersGuru to develop the indicators in the manner you have put them together?

Can you post other charts with these indicators?

Thanks again,

Mike
