Better Bollinger Bands... - page 8

TEAMTRADER:
MLaden/MrTools,

I've been testing almost non-stop live with the BetterBB in order to achieve a reliable EA - results are shown on the attached charts - with the two differing templates on them but the same EA rules.

The top and bottom charts are of my original EA rules with the original EA template that I use for checking.

The centre chart shows the Better BB template - I have trialled several settings of this indicator and run them live so you may already know that the outer bands cross and recross as the price moves on. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM as it is only one signal (value of the outer band of one indicator against the value of the outer band of the other indicator) and the eventual EA would use several signal to filter out any early incorrect signals.

Small Question - when I am testing I need to enter 'Guppy type' ma's in the coloured version several times as I use separate Fibonacci values for these ma's. Do you know of an indicator/mq4 folder that gives these lines as each time I have to enter them separately, very time consuming?

Big Question - if I write down the criteria for the EA who would have the time and knowledge to put it together?

Bear in mind that it it will use initially the 3 specialist indicators on screen, have certain filters to be added at a later date if necessary and will operate on a range or renkorange chart.

It has taken a long time to get to this point and whilst the EA can be made to work using the Fib/Guppy illustrations, the Better BB indicator has the edge when it comes to entries and exits.

Regards

Teamtrader, there's some Guppy ma indicators here https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/general

Thanks MrTools,

It is a single colour indicator and whilst I could possibly change the settings to Fibonacci, I can't change it to multi-coloured.

Nevertheless, even as it stands, it will save me a lot of time and I will use it to check my EA settings on my original range and renko charts for the rest of the week.

Teamtrader,

There's some interesting T3 Gmma's here https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/173058/page10

I had a lot of freezing when I downloaded some of those indicators - but the short story is I now have a formula for an EA based on the attached 4 indicators (MACD x 2 [both are identical but two attached in case the code is not clear on either]; CCI, Stochastics and Bollinger Bands).

Visual back tests have shown theoretically the worst it should do is get losses of 10 or less, some break evens - but theory is only theory. MT4 often will not accept close stops or trailing profits in live trading.

Basically it has a BB centre cross as a starting signal, MACD cross of zero as the following signal, two filters of CCI whether the first two signals (BB and MACD) are acceptable in relation to a zero cross on the CCI, with a further filter if it does not pass this test, and finally the stochastics being over or under a set level.

Question - do I post somewhere differently to get an opinion to say if it is acheivable?

Thanks

TEAMTRADER:
Previous question - understood, there are several other indicators UNDER the chart that do the same job.

The only other question I have is can the indicator be adapted so that it includes a 'shift' facility so whilst in live trading it is easier to visually identify?

If this affects the signal part of the indicator then I am happy for it to remain as it is currently.

I've posted this illustration of what I call the Predictor Bolling Band - two indicators with different settings so show when in a trend. These are the MRTOOLS posted indicator Better BB (nrp).

They are far, far better than moving averages for visual aids.

Thanks

TeamTrader tell me how you set bolinzhery in the main window? I did not succeed. you could just give Tpl line Bolinger in #37

Hi all,

Sorry to hi-jack this thread but I have a query relating to Bollingers as I'm looking for one with audio alerts and thought someone here might be able to help me?

I am looking for a Bollinger indi where I get an audio alert if priceclosespast the outer BB's.All I can find on the Internet so far are indi's when pricetouchesthe outer BB's which is no good to me.

If anyone has this I'd really appreciate the share!

Thanks in advance!

EDIT - Found what I was looking for over here -https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/180648 (thanks mladen!)

this is the only one I have that has an alert and a facilty for audio.

This is the base template - using the better BB indicator.

Settings are band length 21 and band shift 1.

Other indi setting is 34 and band shift 1.

Unfortunately the alerts are not always correct but as a visual aid with indicators under the chart it is a great directional aid.

Is it possible to remove some of the alerts and replace it with one alert on this Better BB indicator?

The alert that is important is when, at the same time;

a. the upper BB moves up and the lower BB moves down, or

b. the lower BB moves up and the upper BB moves down.

When either of these criteria are fullfilled, then an alert fires.

Thanks.

Here you go. One more type of alerts adde : expanding/contracting. If you set it to true it will alert on the conditions that you described too
