Should be different.
Metastock formula of McGinley Dynamic indicator is not McGinley Dynamic indicator. So, in elite section - it was coded based on the original article. And in the end of the article - something as "New McGuinley dynamic". So, it was coded by 2 options: as normal one and as new one (based on the parameter/input).
It is what I see from the description of the post.
biddick,
The one posted at FF is a conversion of metastock indicator named McGinley dynamic indicator (I did that conversion step too (on a request of one of the members in elite section) when I did not have necessary information, and that conversion was not the same as the one on FF either, feel free to compare the code - posting it here ). The one posted in the elite section is made after the original article by John R. McGinley, Jr.
They are not the same
Btw: did you compare the "metastock version" to EMA (same periods, same price - red EMA 12,close , blue McGuinley dynamic "metastock version" 12,close) The rest of information (the article, the comparison and the code) about "original" McGuinley dynamic is posted in elite section

mladen
Hi ND , McGinley Dynamic indicator for Metatrader posted in Forexfactory.McGinley Dynamic indicator in the elite section is different than the one in FF?
Thank you Mladen for the explanation.
hi,
i just tried to code McGinley Dinamics based on an article on MTA Journal issue 48. The formula on the article is different with Metastock version:
Dyn = LastDyn + (Close-LastDyn)/(N*(Close/LastDyn)^4)
N = 60% period of standard ema
After saw the result, it doesn't show any clear suppression on noise except it lags behind standard ema (based on that article, McGinley stated that his "Dynamic MA" can avoid whipsaw). Maybe someone can clarify my code?

Stephen
