installing MT4 problem - page 3

RaptorUK:

You said you did it already . . .

What I did was install the program in a folder our of Program files. What I did now was to create a virtual disc. I am searching about how to give it full privileges.

(is that what you mean right?)

This is what was suggested . . .

WHRoeder:
install in a new directory outside of \program files*

. . . so for example, install in C:\MT4Installs\BrokerName\

FMIC:

What RaptorUK (not SDC) suggested was that you use a Process Monitor, such as "Microsoft's System Internals Process Monitor" <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx> or in the very least, the built-in "Windows Task Manager", to analyse your PC and the process handling of MT4 and see if there is not anything causing the problem, such as Malware.

However, I am of the opinion, that if you do not know what he meant, that you do not have the technical knowledge to be able to detect or even correct the problem yourself. So, my suggestion is, that you have a qualified technician or someone else knowledgeable take a look at your PC in order to find the problem.

In other words, your difficulties are not related to MQL4 or MT4 and are more related to Operating System difficulties and do not really belong on this forum. Until, you can resolve your PC issues you will not be able to move onto the next step with the use of MT4 or MQL4 coding.

Everyone else is able to install and run MT4 even on 64-bit OS's (and even on Linux machines running "Wine"), so it is not really a MT4 bug issue. Something must be "screwed up" on your PC!

So take RaptorUK's advice, and first sort out you PC!

I will do that (call a technician ). I got tired of doing so many tests.

Thanks to all

Fixed: formated the Pc

Thanks for the update trader201...I'm having a similar issue with my new latitude e6540...hard to believe its a laptop issue but it must be I guess.

Can you describe what you did to format your pc? Are you saying you had it re-imaged, i.e. the OS re-installed?

Thanks.

Hi,

What's your actual issue ?

mt4 seems to install fine but then will not open.

It did work previously on the same laptop but will not after the upgrade.

I don't think it's an mt4 issue...but perhaps some permission/security issue with laptop.

Tried many things today but no good... windows logs tell me this (app error):

Faulting application name: terminal.exe, version: 4.0.0.604, time stamp: 0x007ed800

Not really. It seems a little weird to install MT4 on C:\Users\Public\mt4\terminal.exe not ?

What I can suggest you, if you know how to do it, is to create a new windows session, just to do a test. Install MT4 on a standard location C:\Programs... and see how that works. Sometimes it's not the system who is corrupted but only the user session.

I haad the same problem , I disabled the antivirues and anti malware program before installation. The setup successfully completed. I suggest you to do the same. After the installation enable the anti programs again.

One other method which works with some brokers platforms is go to properties of file and change compatibility to windows 98. and run as administrator. This will also works. But some setups will require windows xp or higher so the above method is for them.
