Perhaps you can't, but perhaps you wouldn't want to . . . if a Server side change is made that means the only Builds 490 and later work wouldn't you want to have your terminal updated ? I understand that you would rather have the final say on when software is updated on your own PC, if that is the case don't upgrade to a Build that doesn't have liveupdate.exe . . . though at some point in time I would think your terminal will no longer be supported.

Normally i would confirm that, but there are certain situation we all want to avoid - in this particular case the lateest MT4 version,
at least until we all know for sure if there is a bug or not.

I completely agree . . . I have never been an early adopter, sometimes there is no choice though, MT5 for example, it updates when it wants.
