Could anyone help in this matter, if I send the EX4file of my EA to another user of meta trader and they upload this to their platform, will this mean they can use the EA as long as they allow dll imports ? in short I would like for my EA to be used by others without having to send the open code, if this is not the way to do this then could anyone help, thanks Robbo

Not sure why they need DLL imports selected, unless your EX4 requires DLL imports.
Yes you can send an EX4 and it can be run without needing to send the source code. Be aware, however, that Ex4 to MT4 decompilers exist on the web to be bought. Just google
EX4 MT4 decompiler
They will then get a sort of source file (without the correct variable names or comments) and could read your strategy if sufficiently keen.
Sell them an EA which trades on Signals received from you. Hey!!! this is not a bad business approach, any other thoughts out there as to why this isn't the popular way of doing things?

Well you can send your subscribers Signals to their Emails, SMS, Your_Web-Page, etc. I don't know much about selling Signals however, I would think that you just Broadcast when to Buy and Sell and let your subscribers decide if they want to take your forecasts or not. This is much easier because you don't have to worry much about their connection issues, you also don't have to worry if they're taking every-trade or sizing their lots correctly etc. When you sell them an EA you also don't have to worry about their Connections Issues but you have to make sure the other stuff works.
The easiest way I can think of for Signal-to-ReadOnly-EA approach is to Post your EA trading on Your Website, (The Public Don't need Access to this Page). Then have the Read-Only EA read the Signals off the WebPage and Duplicate. There's probably better or faster ways of doing this instead of a web-page. You can research duplicating trades from one Computer-to-Another. Search Google.
The drawback with this approach is that whatever technical or connection issues you're having will also affect your subscribers. If I was to sell something like this, I'd make sure they couldn't blame me for down-times in the contract lol.
Good input UBZEN, the only problem is the speed one, some trades are overnight and one after the other, a bit to much to pack in, if you know what I mean, maybe take my chances on ebay and sell the whole thing, worst case is someone duplicates it and develops it further and better, who knows, the current situation is I am trading 0.01 lots and there are some green shoots but its a slow burn and possibly a long road, selling the EA would create its own destiny in that the lots and initial investment can be larger, the current month has produced around 30% with a maximum of 90% but losses have eroded this to the 30% level, it's early days and the swings of the current period don't give a clear picture, regards Robbo
