Automated Trading Championship 2008: Statistical Report #2

On the website of the Automated Trading Championship 2008, an article Statistical Report #2 has been published. The second month of the Championship is over. We decided to analyze obtained results of these two months and compare them to those of the previous year. We analyzed parameters like Positions Closed by Days, Ratio of Profitable and Losing Trades, Average Profitable and Losing Trade, Equity by Symbols. The following conclusions were drawn:

  • trading activity of the Participants' EAs on the current Championship is much higher than that of the previous contest. This may be determined by the highly increased volatility on Forex;
  • the increased volatility resulted in that the percentage of Expert Advisors fallen below the minimal balance is considerably higher than it was a year ago;
  • the ratio between average profit and average loss can be different depending on the pair and the timeframe considered. The average loss may be smaller than the average profit during the first month, but the situation may change quite oppositely within the second month.
