why you do not use forward testing too be sure it is a good EA? you can optimize for a period like 3 months and then run for 6 months for a 1.2 forward test. do same thing 3 4 times and if forward test is as good as optimized backtest then it is a good EA. even 60% of backtest for forward is acceptable.

yeap, I know what you mean. testing tools for mt5 are very progressive and can make testing process so easy for user. Also selecting reliable optimization result fast and easy.

The problem with trading forex is even if the big macro-economic picture is clear, the releases of every single economic data is impossible to predict.
Consider today's big miss in US labor market data. The big picture is still there but almost every short position in EURUSD is stopped out.
That makes me think positive about martingale guys. At least they can earn some profit and show some skills for a few months to their poor investors... And stay in the business.
