Moving averages are a good mix of the present and past, so why not use them?
I need to have an EA take over my trading system of trading.
6 Simple Moving Averages: 6, 12, 30, 60, 90, and 120.. Closing price.
I also use an RSI and Stoch which helps with a few things.

Moving averages seem 'always right', because they lag :(
RSI & Stochastic usefulness drops off as timeframe reduces & lose the plot in extreme trends
So only use these in a ranging market - how will you detect that?
Check out CCI & DPO as more useful to Forex than those ex-stock following indicators.
OK, I know Ichimoku is REALLY old but can still be effective - on certain pairs...
As ever, my 2c worth :)
Good luck

My Stradegy
I use this stradegy myself and works by allowing me to enter a bid that has a support and resistance of MAs across any timeframe.
I also use rsi 6, 12, 30 and stoch to show how a fluctuation is occuring, good for the 5m and 15m. Only problem that occurs is a redundant signal (using a 20 mark to 80 mark for buy, or 80 mark to 20 for sell) where it crosses and goes back to its mark, or, a volume increase that inverts the signal (to me). Macd is usually never effected by sessions so to use that may be to correct a flaw in my stradegy for use in an EA.
Further Testing Required
This system works I just am not a programmer so that I dont know how to program the ifs or whats, but I want it to do precicely what I want
and as long as it can do that then I will never loose a trade. Looking around today I do not see too many indicators on SMA, only EMA, and SMA is all I would want to say have across over indicator and "ifs" programming, to have rules for an entry and exit.
SMA Faults and Neccessary Programming
This stradegy works much like a ICHMOKU indicator, only its 6 Simple Moving Averages (for large times) and RSI, STOCH, MACD for small timeframes.
MACD Signals?
If anything I have a question. Since the normal trading forex week is what I trade around, I have started using duel MACDs with one at 4 days and one at 6 days and the line seems to cover the small timeframes very well but the MACD moves so much and my question is when a cross occurs from the MACDes lines can it be an entry or exit?
